Tracking long range precipitation for Southern Ontario using weather models, satellite, and meteorological data.
Rain, Rain, and More Rain for Sunday Storm!----UPDATED!!
Snowsquall Map for Wednesday - Thursday.
This is an update on the storm that will move through Southern Ontario during the day Sunday into Monday. Rain will start in Southwestern Ontario early Sunday morning and will make its way up towards Eastern Ontario by noon. Temperatures will hover around zero for a half an hour before rising dramatically in the morning hours. Some of the regions in Southern Ontario could experience freezing rain. All freezing rain will change to rain and total rain amounts could be upwards to 15 millimeters with 20millimeters locally possible.
The storm will leave Southern Ontario by Tuesday and then cold air will sweep through the regions. This is where the lake effect machine will kick in and snow squalls will develop on Wednesday for the areas colored in white(map above). Snowfall amounts could exceed 20 centimeters in some of the white colored areas before diminishing to flurries by Friday.
There are little possibilities for another winter storm until early February. Weather models have a disturbance coming up the East Coast, and there is a chance that this disturbance will move more inland, which in turn will affect Southern Ontario.
